Heron Sketches

Day 15 Great Blue Heron

These birds give me some ideas on how to add plumes to a dinosaur. I love sitting at the campus pond and feeding the fish to bring the heron close for watching, it's more than happy to come close if it doesn't have to work at fishing!. These were from photos but I look forward to seeing my feathered friends again soon.

Pegasus sketches

Day 8: Pegasus

Was thinking about those ospreys I drew last weekend. I need to work a bit on my horses heads, these were done from memory.

Technically I also did a few pages of cats but wasn't thrilled with them at all XD clearly this means I need to do a LOT more cats.

(some of my days may be out of order, I forgot to be posting these to my deviantart as well.

Maternal Instinct
I did this peice last year for a project that's now dissolved so I can finally share.

"Maternal Instinct"

I wanted to show the fierceness of the feminine and depicted a mother werewolf nursing her young. I feel too often we see feminine things as soft and delicate while the reality can be quite the opposite. I found breastfeeding to be the most empowering experience with my own body and wanted to capture an inkling of that sentiment.
Water Cham
I am taking Terryl Whitlach's creature design course on  This is part of the assignment for the second lesson, I am attempting a new digital style and love it so much I plan to stick with it =)  I'll be posting the rest of this creature soon.

Reptile/Fish Hybrid
Digital with traditional lines
Vieled Chameleon/ Lionfish hybrid
I've been asked enough times that I had a friend help me make one for my art =)

You can see it here…

I will be posting a lot of sketches, WIPs and minitutorials that don't make it here.
